Connections between my table MWA #1

My table consist of Alesia, Anna, Adrijana, and me. For my first MWA project I chose the word ravs which is a food that represents my community. Alesia talked about how the word Raki is important to her family along with Albania. Anna talked about how her high school valued a value driven women leader who made a difference in the "real world". I found the phrase fascinating and I was also intrigued how the phrase has impacted her and that she will carry around the phrase with her forever. I found that each paper was different in its own way, but all the papers can relate to each other.

Anna wrote about a phrase that was presented to her in high school. At St. Josephs Academy Anna was introduced with the phrase a value driven women leader who made a difference in the "real world". I found this phrase very interesting and loved how Anna took the MWA paper a different way and talked about how she experienced the phrase for the first time in high school. I also found it interesting how this phrase has impacted her life and how she uses all the time till this day. Anna unlike me was presented this phrase in high school, whereas, I grew up with the word ravs. Even though our papers were different they are still alike in some ways. Both of us talked about how the word or phase means so much more than the word itself. Anna's phrase and my word means more about the experiences behind it rather than the meaning itself.

Alesia wrote about Raki which is an alcoholic beverage, but it is more than just that. Raki is also used economically and medicinally. Both Alesia and I wrote about a word in the food and drink category that symbolizes our family. Both Alesia and I have native roots in Europe and both of us were able to connect to those native roots and how these words are able to represent our family and cultures. I find it interesting that both of us also picked a word that is a significant and symbolic piece to our community.

Even though our papers were completely different there were aspects in each paper that were similar. Alesia and I wrote about words that are symbolic to our family, where as, Anna wrote about a phrase that she values deeply. I believe that the commonalities between our papers unique, but they show our values and beliefs and what is important to us.
