Most difficult assignment - Madi Castelli

The most difficult assignment I ever had was my junior year of high school I had a family heritage project. The family heritage project consisted of a twenty page scrap book each page assigned a different topic, a ten page paper, a interview with someone with knowledge of my family heritage, food that is unique to my culture/nationality, and a poster board about your heritage. I think what made if difficult was all the different task to do and even though I had a month to work on the project, the project was a lot of work.

The most difficult part about this project was managing my time, but I set up a schedule for myself to overcome that issue. I made sure every night I would work an hour on the project and on weekends I would spend two to three hours on the project. Another difficult part was writing down as many questions as I could think of to ask my grandfather who I was interviewing. My grandfather is from Italy so he was able to tell me about the whole back story of my family and how he came to America. While interviewing him it was very upsetting to hear his tragic story and I it was difficult but interesting to learn my family history. To remember all the questions I needed to ask my grandfather I made a word doc and listed every question possible. I also went through the rubric for the project and made sure all the questions I needed to ask were located on the word doc. Another difficult task was making the scrap book. One part of the scrap book had to be a family tree and I had to go back four generations, but thankfully my grandfather was there to help with that. Another part of the scrapbook that was difficult was writing a poem that represents my family. To overcome this difficult task I started writing stuff down about my family and I ended up finishing the poem.

I learned a lot from this experience. For example, I learned how to better manage my time which is very important especially now that I am in college. I also learned a lot about my family and the history of how my family came to America and why they came to America. I also learned what makes my family so important to me and I think everyone should have to a project of this type to learn about their family.
