The Most Difficult Assignment
The most difficult assignment I’ve ever had to do was my junior year of high school and it was a project called anthology. This project was assigned at the beginning of August and was due at the end of April. The first thing I had to do was pick a topic and then everything after that had to follow the topic. We had to find songs, quotes, poems, a speech, a magazine article, a children’s book, a movie, and many others that related to the topic and then we had to write a one page summary about it. We also had to write fifteen journals on different questions that our teacher gave us. The whole project was a very detailed and extensive thing and that’s why we were given so long to make it. It also had to be put together in a binder and nicely decorated.
This project was for sure my most difficult challenge in my high school career and I found that I was not prepared for it. Time management has always been a struggle for me, but this was a quite a test. Most people made a timeline of how they were going to divide up the project, but I thought it would be fine to just go with the flow. By the time Christmas break came around I still hadn’t even started my anthology and my mom was nagging me to do something, so I started to do a few journals. January was a busy month for me so I did not end up doing any more of the project. Then all of the sudden it was the middle of March and I was on spring break and I had less than a month to do basically the whole project. I knew I would have to work extra hard now because of my procrastination. When I got back from vacation I worked my butt off to finish my anthology before the deadline came. I had finished about two days before it was due and thought it would be a good idea to decorate it the night before. I started decorating at around 6 at night and did not finish decorating until 3 that morning. I definitely underestimated how long it would take me to decorate.
I learned a lot from this experience, especially that procrastinating will be the death of you. I now know how to manage my time wisely and how to give myself motivation when I need to get things done. Anthology was a good experience and it definitely helped me be better prepared for college.
