Major Writing Assignment 2: Dissoi Logi
In order to begin your Rhetoric Project, I ask that you start from a solid base of research. This Writing Assignment looks at your ability to assemble and interpret sources, and present them as a useful tool for the upcoming steps in executing your Rhetoric Project. To achieve this, we'll be working with the Pius Library to gain practice in not only seeing the library as a storehouse of books and articles, but a complex piece of academic infrastructure.

The name of this assignment is drawn from an ancient Greek rhetorical exercise that looked at contrasting arguments as a process in learning Rhetoric. As a second task, I want you to start putting your research to the test, and seeing how it holds up under the scrutiny of an opposing argument. You will thus have to write two separate essays: one presenting your argument, and the other presenting the counter-argument.
