Minor: This article was about a cartoon series Street Sharks that Minor twisted in his lies based on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Minor took a very common show and added in his own characters and new plot so that it differed from Street Sharks the original. He wrote fake episode summaries and a fake movie and even said that Henry Winkler was the voice of one of the character which was completely false. His lies stayed on a few websites for a while before they eventually got taken down, but many people still believe this and it just shows that people can put anything they want on the internet so it doesn’t always mean it’s true.
Lee: This article talked about the Boston bombing and how on certain websites unqualified people were trying to figure out who the guilty person was. This got very out of hand and this crowd started blaming innocent people. They were part of ruining a person’s life by putting out his picture and name and claiming he was guilty. They made him feel unsafe and look like a horrible person. When the police found the real guilty person the website had to take all of those comments down, but it didn’t change the fact that they were blaming innocent people.
Catacchio: This article was about how easily false information can spread through social media, but the big one is twitter. On twitter there is a top story that usually comes up when searching things, but that doesn’t mean it is the most accurate one. Catacchio doesn’t think that twitter should delete tweets, but maybe create a feature that can vote down or dislike a tweet. Many young people are on twitter and that is how most get their news so it doesn’t help when the information they are receiving is false.
