My table is Adrijana, Maddie, and Alecia. Maddie wrote about "ravs" which describes a food her family enjoys, Alecia wrote about an Albanian word, "Raki" which is a word her and her family find important. I thought it was really cool how she used a word from her language of origin, and how Maddie used a word that means something different to her and her family.
Alecia wrote about "raki" which is an alcoholic drink and is a lot more to her and her family. She talks about how it can be used as a medicine. She wrote about a word that holds a deeper meaning and brings her back to her community.
Maddie wrote about "ravs" which is the term her family uses for a type of food, and comes from her Italian roots. Because both of them are European, and food is very important to the family dynamic, especially where I'm from, they have a connection because of the significance of food and drink.
Both of theirs differed from mine because they wrote about a word that they've known forever, while I came upon mine in high school. One similarity we all have though, is that our terms have a stronger and more personal meaning to each of us than what the actual word means.
I learned a little bit about their cultures through this assignment, and even realized how close theirs is to my Romanian culture.
