Chapter 9--Video Revisions

If I were to go back and edit my video in order to fit a rubric or make it more to my liking, I would have to make both surface and structural revisions to my project. In terms of surface level things, I would probably try to target a more specific audience rather than attempt to appeal to and persuade a large variety of people as I was previously. This would effectively change the footage and images that I ended up using in my original project, or rearrange the order in which I decided to put things in. It could also change the original audio clip that I had chosen to use throughout my entire video. Depending on who my new target audience would be, I might want to chose something a little less sad and serious in favor of choosing music that was more uplifting or hopeful. I also chose not to use voiceovers and to instead use all text. This could also be a surface level change I could make, deciding to use voiceover as a persuasion tactic rather than having people read everything as it scrolls across the screen. However, I feel like my transitions were simple, and were a little extra thing that helped my chosen points flow together better than if they had not been there.
In terms of structural changes to my video, I feel like my tone could have been improved some. Choosing a somber song and having some less than happy facts in my video made it rather sad, despite having a somewhat hopeful note at the end. I think it would have been more effective if my video was a minute shorter, but I hadn't wanted to cut out any information because I felt it was all pertinent to my persuasive argument. If I were to redo the video, I think that I would have to decide what to cut and what to keep. If I had had more time to work on this video, I think I would have also used some footage of my own rather than all stock footage. I might've changed my concept a bit to include and Q&A session in which I interview people about why they drink milk and give them facts about the dairy industry. I think this also would've been good to add in order to show that people can be open and receptive to changing their diets.
