Chapter 9 -- Video Revisions
If this rhetoric project were to be graded on video quality, I would have made a lot of changes. Time management was a huge restriction for me because of a volleyball tournament that occurred over the weekend. I was initially planning on conducting several interviews with different medical professionals, but I did not have the time nor resources to actually pull this off. I was then planning on performing a whiteboard time lapse in which I would narrate my message over illustrations. However, the camera I checked out from the CAI Lab could not hold a charge so I couldn't do that either. I instead used GoAnimate as the medium for communication. However, the free trial I used forced me to have a giant watermark in the video, so that was visually unpleasant. The color lacked in the movie as well, mainly a black and white background that was not visually appealing. I would not have wanted to go overboard on color, but some would have given it personality. As far as actual content goes, I wish I had used pictures and/or figures to illustrate my message rather than just the animations that presented my words in writing. I could not figure out how to import a specific video I wanted to use in my message, so that detracted from the overall effect of the video. I could not narrate my video either so that made it difficult for me to fully communicate my plan. Instead, I was limited to the different slide formats provided and forced to condense my information so it could be read quickly and would not be so prone to losing the attention of those who would watch. Overall, a lot of my shortcomings came down to poor time-management and limitation of ability, so the planning process would have also been changed in the process of making the video.
