Progress Report

I started my Rhetoric Project on Friday by figuring out how to work iMovie. I got a MacBook this summer and have never used iMovie yet, so I needed to get to know the ropes before I started on my project. It was difficult to use at first, but I was able to ask my friends with MacBooks how to use it which is convenient. I figured out how to put words over videos, but I have yet to decide if I want to use that because it is also slightly distracting. I figured out how to download different acoustic music from Free Music Archive and KeepVid. I have collected and am planning on using a more upbeat but not distracting song in the background to keep the audience awake but focused too. I have also figured out how to download clips of videos from Youtube using KeepVid and I researched how to cite them in MLA format, so I have already compiled a series of videos which is a key part in visualizing and comparing the 2 different countries and the foods provided. I have also compiled the facts, maps, images and quotations needed for my video. I have interviewed 2 of my friends about personal experiences with school lunches from their old schools, and if I have more time I would like to interview one or two more. I have yet to compose and combine the entire project together, but I have the elements for my video and the plan for the video's timeline. Essentially, it is like the general of the America Versus series on Facebook, but starting with what American lunch is like because of changes the Obama program made with the Twitter hashtag, how students feel about it with interviews and videos, how others feel about it with quotations, and how much food is wasted and amount of money lost. After, the video goes into how French lunches compare with videos, images and quotes. Lastly, I encourage the positive reasons for changing lunch programs to a more French style and encourage students, parents and school boards to write to the USDA and NSLP calling for reformations.
