Hi! My name is Abigail Schimpf, but I go by Abbey. I'm a freshman in the Physical Therapy program and my minor is psychology. I joined Delta Gamma this fall, I'm involved with SLU Dance Marathon, and I love babysitting, so I got a job working for a family here in St. Louis every week.
I'm from Dayton, Ohio, which is a small city about an hour north of Cincinnati. I live with both of my parents and my brothers, Ben and Peter. Ben is a year older than me and attends SLU as well. Peter is a sophomore at Archbishop Alter High School, the same school my parents went to, along with Ben and I, and some of our cousins too. I loved my high school because I got to see my family every day, and I met so many good friends through the sports/activities I participated in!
I decided I wanted to go to SLU pretty early. My brother visited the campus the summer going into his junior year, so I was just coming out of freshman year of high school. During the tour, I fell in love with everything SLU- the city, the campus, the community, and the opportunity for a direct admission PT program. From that point on, I wanted to go here, until Ben decided in the middle of my junior year that SLU would be his home for the next four years. I didn't want to be the little sister who followed her brother, so I began the search to find a university which was equally perfect for me. By senior year I had found a few good schools, but I still decided to SLU, just in case. I had pretty much decided to attend Marquette University in Milwaukee, but I still came to visit my brother right after his Christmas break, and I totally re-fell in love with this school. After considering all my options for a couple of months, I finally chose SLU in the last week I was allowed to commit to a decision.
I'm so happy and grateful to attend SLU, and I honestly love having Ben here too! I'm so excited for these next six years, and I cannot wait for what's to come from this new chapter of my life.
