Purpose: The purpose of this dance and performance is to express how the dancers feel in an art form. They are conveying the song lyrics and emotions in a dance. The dance was specifically choreographed to deliver the message of the song so that the audience could feel like they are living through the song. The purpose is also to show their dance skills to the judges and to hopefully become ranked number one in the state of Illinois.

Audience: The audience is everyone in the crowd watching the performance at state and also just everyone watching in general. The audience is also the judges who decide what score they get and where they are ranked. Most importantly the audience is the people who need motivation to never give up on their dreams. People who are watching this video might become inspired to go out and follow their dreams no matter what that may be.

Context: The video may just be of a dance to someone, but it’s more than just that. In the context it’s in is that the dancers are trying to encourage people to feel alive and follow their dreams just as the performers are doing right then following their dream to win state. In this form, the dance can be fully understood, whereas if you don’t look into it you won’t be able to see what they’re trying to tell you.

Text: In this video, the text happens to be in audio form, which makes it easy to really grasp the message of the song. The audio works well with the motion of the dancers so that the text is interpreted in two ways and makes it easy to recognize the value of the words. The lyrics are saying make me feel alive while the dancers are putting in all their emotion to make the audience feel that way.
