Introduction

My name is Samuel Choi and I am a 19-year-old Korean-American. I was born in Chicago, Illinois but moved to St. Louis at an early age and thus have spent most of my life here. I have a South Korean father and mother who entered the United States around the 80s and an older twin sister who currently attends Washington University in St. Louis. My parents have raised my sister and I with a mixture of South Korean and modern American traditions. My relatives all reside in either the other side of the world or in Los Angeles, so family reunions are somewhat of a rarity. I'm a big fan of films and hold interests in philosophy and art. During my free time I enjoy watching films, listening to podcasts, doodling, playing video games, and hanging out with my childhood friends who have all surprisingly tolerated me. I occasionally enjoy traveling outside of St. Louis and would love to visit some outside locales such as Tokyo and Prague.

I am enjoying SLU so far other than maybe its food variety. I am currently a sophomore and a computer science major, although that may be subject to change as I’m not that good at mathematics and I don’t hold too much passion in the field. It has been and still is quite the struggle for me to confidently stick with a major but I’m sure SLU will provide the necessary resources to help me make that decision.
