Hi, my name is David Thompson, and I'm from Newburgh, Indiana, a small town about 3 hours due east from St. Louis. I'm majoring in Exercise Science in pursuit of my Doctor of Physical Therapy degree. The city of St. Louis has treated me very well since I arrived in August and I look forward to spending the upcoming years here. I enjoy meeting new people and riding the Metro around the city.
I'm the oldest of 5 children in my family. I have been raised as a Catholic and I am a confirmed member of the Church. I am involved in the Slunatics here on campus as well as Students for Life. I work in the weight room assisting the strength and conditioning coaches with the various team lifts for our Division I sports teams.
I am a diehard sports fan, cheering for the Indianapolis Colts, St. Louis Cardinals, and the University of Evansville's men's basketball team. As a child of two Evansville alums, I have been attending their games since I was an infant. I was a runner in high school for both the cross country and track teams in the fall and spring respectively. Recently, I dove headfirst into weightlifting and find it a great stress reliever. Outside of sports, I enjoy watching movies, particularly comedies and any Star Wars or superhero movie.
Without a doubt, I am pleased that I chose to attend SLU. I already have so many new friends and I continue to make new connections everyday. I hope to gain new knowledge about the rhetoric surrounding us in the new media age throughout this class.
