Hello, my name is Jimmy Helfrich, but my full name is James Roy Helfrich II. The numerals are added to my name because my dad has the same exact name. I grew up in a small suburban town, New Lenox, right outside of the hustle and bustle of Chicago, Illinios. Even though I am a suburban kid I do consider myself a Chicagoan because of how often I go to the city. In the summer I am in the city almost every weekend because my family owns a boat in Burnham Harbor. My family descends from Germany and Sweden making me a mix of these two.
I have many interests but a lot of these revolve around my love for sports. I pretty much will watch or play any type of sport, but my ultimate favorite is baseball. I have been playing baseball since I was 3 years old. I started on varsity as a freshman up until my senior year, and I also played in travel baseball in the summer. Currently, I am playing for the SLU club team. Also, in high school I played football my freshman year. Football is another one of my favorite sports to watch, but it is such a brutal sport that I do not receive the same satisfaction playing it as I do watching. Since I am a Chicago fan I like any sports team from Chicago with exception to the White Sox.
My other interests aside from sports is I really love to go out and hang with my friends. I am a person that really values good friendship, and I think that's reflected when I am with my friends. Also, I have a strong interest in the sciences whether it is in school or just looking at the biology that we experience every day in nature.
Since I love the sciences, I am majoring in Biomedical Engineering on the pre-med track. I aspire to be an orthopedic surgeon, and really help people fix the issues they might have regarding the skeletal system. I am a very driven person and I will continue to aspire to be the best person I can be.
