Purpose: The video I chose is about adopting and applying the ideas of sincerity to society. This video is by Kid President who is a small African American kid who speaks out about societal issues by putting a childish twist on them. By doing this Kid President calls to attention society's weak spots and preaches to his audience how to fix this. In this particular video his purpose was to preach the importance of kindness and treating each other equally.
Audience: One can say that this particular video targets all of society because it as an ideology that every single person needs to have. However, I believe that it goes farther than that. I personally believe that this video is targeting younger generations of people. They create a sort of hierarchy by calling him "Kid President" in the sense that kids are following under the illusion of Kid President. They believe that he's "their president" and listen/ adopt his ideas being preached. Therefore, Kid President is trying to instill social values in the younger generation so that society could be better in the future.
Context: This is in context of our normal society because a lot of people do treat each other poorly, and it affects society in such a negative way. For example, a societal issue that has arisen because of poor treatment of one another is suicide. The context of this video is all about preventing societal issues that happen because of maltreatment.
Text: The text of this video completely revolves around the fact that the host is an eight year old kid. The very tone of the video is completely innocent and is characterized by several euphemisms. These serve the purpose of pointing out societal issues or to preach how to fix these societal issues. An example of this in the video was when Kid President was telling the audience to "check the BBQ sauce on your own shirt before looking at the sauce on other people's shirts". He is trying to tell the audience to worry about your own problems before you start judging other people for theirs. Overall, making it an example of Kid President trying to shape society for the better.
